Formed from the ashes of Joy Division in 1980, New Order may well be the most influential band of the past 35 years. Best known for their 1983 anthem Blue Monday, the biggest selling 12” of all time, the band blurred the line between post-punk and electronic music, and were at the forefront of Manchester’s rise to become the centre of the musical world in the late 80s and early 90s. Touring in support of new album, 'Music Complete', released last Friday, they’re still one of the best live acts around and are making Clockenflap their one and only, exclusive Asian show of 2015.

Love Psychedelico
Clockenflap welcomes: Love Psychedelico!
With more than three million albums sold, Japanese duo Love Psychedelico have a huge following in their home country and beyond. Their bluesy brand of psychedelic pop channels Janis Joplin, Led Zeppelin and the Beatles, among others, and their live shows are usually sold-out extravaganzas. Expect them to add to their legions of fans at this year’s festival.

Mercury Rev
Clockenflap welcomes: Mercury Rev!
With their ethereal take on psychedelic rock, Mercury Rev occupy an astral plane all of their own. Often compared to fellow space-rock giants The Flaming Lips, the Buffalo, New York four-piece have been star-blazing a unique cosmic pathway for over 25 years, and are best known for the songs Goddess on a Hiway and The Dark is Rising. As anyone who’s caught them live will know, their festival shows are the stuff of legend, a genuinely spiritual experience of joy and togetherness that borders on the transcendental. Unmissable.
Comprised of multi-instrumentalist and producer Ólafur Arnalds and Bloodgroup’s electro-pop mastermind Janus Rasmussen, this Icelandic duo’s transcendent audio concoctions marry minimal techno to experimental string and piano compositions. Drawing from their eponymous 2014 debut album, which earned them rave reviews and a loyal European fan base, the double act’s live set of textured atmospheric sounds and stunningly crafted aural vistas is utterly mesmerising.
The band that British indie bible NME called “The Greatest Rock‘n’Roll Story Of Our Generation”, The Libertines are one of the most influential acts of the past 20 years. Pete Doherty, Carl Barat, John Hassall and Gary Powell defined the indie-rock landscape at the start of the millennium with the albums ‘Up the Bracket’ and ‘The Libertines’. Returning in 2015 with a new album and bonafide live zeal, their Clockenflap performance will be one that no Hong Kong music fan will want to miss. This is going to be BIG!

The Skatalites
Clockenflap welcomes: The Skatalites!
In the early 60’s Jamaica found it’s musical voice. This sonic revolution was led by ska. An infectious, all-welcoming groove, designed for moving and built for good times. It is the sound of an irresistible party.
In time, ska would give birth to dancehall, dub, rock steady and of course reggae, though at Clockenflap 2015, we’re going back to the start and paying homage to the originators – The Skatalites. Spreading their musical joy since their reformation in the late 80’s, be sure to catch these musical icons when they take to the mid-afternoon Clockenflap stage. Magic!

Life Was All Silence
